what is your best lure in your tackle box for bass?
im manly wanting to know about small mouth and large mouth bass. what lure do you use to catch the big ones. and what lure do you use when you want to have a huge fish fry meaning which lure do you use when numbers mean more then size. whats your secret weapon when the fish ain't biting and most important of all how are you using these lures. should i get a scum frog or scum frog pop-r.
I'm just gonna answer all the questions you put. If you want more techniques and help visit the site that I put in the source's area below. To catch the big ones I use chatterbaits, buzzbaits, and a jig with a paca craw trailer. To fish the chatterbait you just cast it out and reel it back in. I usually do best when I reel it fast enough to keep it about 2-3 feet under the surface. You can also lift and drop, stop and go, etc. but I do best with a steady retrieve. To fish the buzzbait you just reel it fast enough to keep it on the surface. For the jig you can hop it or drag it along the bottom. I always release bass I catch, but for numbers I use lipless crankbaits, jerkbaits, poppers, shaky heads, waky rigs, and spinnerbaits. To fish a lipless crankbait you cast it out, let it sink for a few seconds, then reel it until you feel it tick grass, then jerk it and let it fall for a bit, then repeat. For the jerkbaits you just jerk and stop it. You should keep a certain cadence and keep changing it until you find what the bass want. Example-jerk-jerk-pause-jerk-jerk-pause etc. For poppers you let it sit, twitch it twice, let it sit, then twitch it once, then repeat. For shaky heads you drag it along the bottom for a few feet then stop and shake it, repeat all the way back to the boat or shore. For waky rigs you can either let it sink to the bottom then lift it a few feet and let it sink again, or you can twitch it a few times then let it sink a little bit, then repeat.
