How much should my trailer repairs cost?
I have s 2 horse trailer, that the center divider that swiveled was torn out by a distressed horse. It seems to me like minor repairs, maybe 4 small pieces that need to be welded back so the divider can go back on. How much do you think this will run me?
If the repair needs don't make sense, I can try again...
Thanks Anthony, I didn't even think about the hay that could catch fire. In my opinion (which is just vaguely educated by my father who is a hobby welder and I would help him sometimes) there is one part that needs to be "repaired." It is a structural piece. The other 2 are pieces that snapped off- one held the bolt that the divider swiveled on-the other a hook to latch it in place (in a different location). I know this is difficult to understand without seeing it, but I am very thankful for your help and input. I'm hoping to get out of the shop for under $100.
I can't see it from here. It is too hard to tell you how much it will cost as we can't see the amount of damage there is. It depends on how much has to be repaired and replaced. If something is twisted and has to be straightened that takes time. The welding usually runs $50 to $80 per hour (in my area) unless you have a friend. The more that you can do to fit it back together the better it will be. If the shop only has to weld it and not repair it, it will be cheaper. Also remember to clean the trailer out, I would pressure wash it so there is no horse stuff and hay that can catch on fire.You can take it to most shops and get an estimate on the cost some places don't charge for that.
