Steel Fishing
Will I be successful off the pier by using this fishing technique?
Ok so basically, Im going to use a Two hook system on a steel-liter, with the 5 oz. weight going to the bottom, and one hook 6 inches off the bottom, and one hook another 6 inches up, this hooked with either live shrimp or cut bait, and I am looking to catch Red Drum? If not, please include any setups you may have used to catch these fish, and please include the bait. 
Your technique will work just fine. My only suggestion would be to bring some different size weights, and use just enough to stay put on the bottom. This will give those reds a little running room before feeling the weight. I use to change different oz weights as the rip got stronger or weaker depending on the tides. When using a double hook system for reds, I also like to use maybe a live or fresh frozen shrimp on one hook and maybe a small mullet or croaker on the other hook.
