there will be tension in the wire; the vertical component of the tension will support the weight of the sinker, so we know that
Tv=mg or Tcos(theta)=mg where theta is the angle between the line and the vertical
the horizontal component of the tension will balance the centripetal force of the sinker in its circular motion, or
Th=Tsin(theta)=mv^2/r where v is the speed of the sinker and r is the radius of its circular orbit...which is not the same as the length of wire
the radius of a circular orbit is Lsin(theta), where L is the length of wire
so, to find the value of v, we use
v=dist of one orbit/time for one orbit = 2 pi r/0.2s
v=2 pi L sin(theta)/0.2=10 pi L sin(theta)
so...recapping what we know
Tv = T cos(theta)=mg
Th=Tsin(theta) =mv^2/r = m(100 pi^2L^2 sin^2(theta))/L sin(theta) =
100 m pi^2 L sin(theta)
divide Th by Tv:
Tsin(theta)/Tcos(theta) =100mpi^2 Lsin(theta)/mg
sin(theta)/cos(theta) =100 pi^2 Lsin(theta)/g
divide through by sin(theta) and get
cos(theta)=g/(100pi^2 L)
cos(theta)=9.8/(100*3.14^2*0.2)=0.05
theta = 87.2deg
