Pro Abrasion

kevlar jeans or textile riding pants?
what are the pros and cons of each type of motorcycle pant? is the textile mesh an abrasion resistant material?
The better synthetic textile clothing uses ballistics (armored pads) at the impact points, knees/shins and hips/butt. They can also be worn over regular clothing and then taken off when you reach your destination. Down side is that they are bulky and can be hot in warm weather.
Kevlar reinforced jeans generally look better than the synthetic textiles unless you like looking like a hockey goalie. The jeans are also lighter and somewhat cooler in warm weather but the ballistics are not padded. They stop the road rash but not the bruise.
Abrasion resistance depends on how fast you are traveling when you fall off, how far you slide, and weather you do all of the sliding on pavement. Most get offs will be at lower speeds, 10 - 40 mph. This is because most riders will have already began to slow down before they actually fall down. Also, if you get off on the street at speeds greater than that, sliding/abrasion injuries are less of a problem than impact injuries.
