On Line Fishing Tackle

I need advise on what tackle I need for fishing the outer banks of NC?
We're going to do a little bit of troll fishing and then some fishing the calm waters on the inland side of the outer banks where it's calmer. My main issue is I have no idea on what lb test line to use and how to rig up bait for different kinds of fish. I'm not changing rods btw. I do have a bass rod though if I "must" bring an extra rod.
If you're traveling to a new area to fish the best thing you can do is find a bait shop online (try yellowpages.com), give them a call and ask what tackle you should bring for the species of fish you want to catch. Nobody knows what works best, and just as importantly what is legal, than a local. They may even give you a tip on where to find the local hot spot if you stop in and drop a few dollars on bait.
