Ice Hockey is considered as the ultimate adrenaline pumping sport. Normally in the hockey games, players would be smashed against each other. People cheer them on as they see the players in action. They have been participating in every playoff games since 1991 to 2011. This is the longest streak in any of professional games played in North America.
Another reason for the high demand for Redwings tickets is the traditions held at every game of the Redwings. An octopus throwing tradition has been started in the playoffs of 1952. When one local fish monger threw an octopus on the rink during that games in 1952, the team ended up winning the Stanley Cup. The act of throwing the octopus became a tradition and is still being followed to this day. The tradition has met its oppositions in the past. The mess the throwing of the octopus causes in the games is the reason why it was tried to be banned by the NHL committee. The tradition changed from then where in the octopus is only thrown near the entrance of the zamboni.
Another tradition of the team that appeals to the fans is the singing of their anthem. Journey's song "Don't Stop believing" is sang during the end of the home games or during the playoffs. The choir reaches its climax on the parts where they sing the line, born and raised in south Detroit. Constant cheering soon follows as the crowds celebrate with the team.
The Joe Lewis arena is the venue where all these traditions takes place. The stadium can accommodate over 20,000 eager fans. The facilities of the stadium makes the experience of watching the team even more enjoyable. There is nothing better than watching the best team in the NHL play at the best stadium in the league.
