Microfuse Braided
How many yards of braid for my reel?
Hi,
I am soon going to change my bait fishing combo into a soft plastics setup, but I am wondering whether to buy a 125yd or 300yd braid spool as it is quite expensive, and I really don't want to have line on my reel that I will never see.
Currently, I have a Shimano Stradic 3000FI and 3-6kg Shimano Starlo Stix Tournament Pro. Thinking of putting 10lb Stren Microfuse or Shimano Power Pro. Yet 300yd power pro is quite expensive. Will 125yd of 10lb Stren Microfuse be enough for mainly bay snapper, flathead and/or salmon.
Any help is much needed!!!
You will not need more than 125 yards.
If you have a spare spool for your reel, wind the braid onto it. Then join it to any old monofilament line using this knot http://www.ehow.com/how_5006864_tie-braided-line-mono-fishing.html and fill up the spool to the lip. When the spool is full, take it off your reel, attach your other spool to your reel, tie the mono to it and transfer the line from the spare spool to this one. The mono now becomes backing and the spool will be perfectly full when you have transferred all the line.
Job done.
