Line Trout

What is some good poundage on test line for catching trout and carp in streams/creeks?

and which rod a light action rod or medium action rod?

Carp and trout are way so different. A carp will get up to 30 lbs., and trout normally don't exceed 10 lbs. I would just get two rod/reel combos.

For trout, a light or ultra light spinning rod/reel with 2-8 lb. test monofilament.

For carp, a medium or medium-heavy rod/reel (spinning or casting) with 10-20 lb. braid, or monofilament.
