Who would make the best governor, Meg Whitman or Jerry Brown for CA?
Here in California we are about to vote for new governor and the candidates are Meg Whitman, CEO of Ebay or Jerry Brown, ATtorney General of CA. There was a lively debate on September 28, 2010 on TV regarding our issues. Anyone from CA, please participate with your answers and why you choose whoever it is.
Neither one is great choice but with Brown we have a track record of bad policies to look at. The guy laid the groundwork for much of what is wrong with the state right now. Whitman is sleazy too but at least she wouldn't take office owing favors to the special interest groups that own Brown. For Poly-Sci people the debate was hysterical because the issues discussed were things the governor has no control over. The Legislature controls taxes, jobs, education, etc., not the governor. Also, things like illegal immigration are federal issues that no governor has any power over. So they're both talking sh*t and hoping we're stupid. As usual it's the lesser of two evils, so as usual I will hold my nose and cast my ballot for a candidate I can't stand.
