Crappie Jig
Are Crappie Nibbles effective when you use them with a small jig/lure?
i was thinkin maybe a beetlespin body or a small jig or even a tube lure that i can put the nibbles in
I use nibbles about 75% of the time with a jig and a plastic body. My favorite colors are chartreuse yellow and platinum. I use a minnow shaped head and use a plastic jig called Slab Busters. The hook comes out of the body where the tail starts. I work a nibble down in to the "cupped" area.
I feel the nibble just creates a little more scent that will draw some attention. While the jig without the nibble works fine, the nibble just provides a bit more "insurance".
You can't do a lot of casting with a nibble, but you can flip them in to places and let it sink. I would suggest that you give it a try, especially when they don't seem to be going after the jig by itself.
Lesser known benefit: Crappie nibbles help hide the human scent. Anything you can do to eliminate human scent is a plus.
