Blackbird Redwing
how do i get rid of blackbirds,starlings and redwing blackbirds from my seedfeeders?
without chemicals and i live in city limits,,so i cant shoot them!!
I had the same problem, especially with the Starlings and Grackle's. They would chase all of the smaller birds away and eat everything for themselves. I replaced their seed with straight safflower seed. Starlings, Grackles, Blackbirds, Red Winged Blackbirds, and even Squirrels won't eat it. All of the other birds that were previously pushed out of the way will eat the safflower. Especially Cardinals and Tufted Titmouse. I see more variety's of birds than the bag of seed says that it will attract. The Starlings and the Grackles come early every morning to see what kind of seed is out there and then leave as soon as they see it's safflower. You can buy it at Wal-Mart, Lowe's, or Home-Depot. It costs a little more than regular seed but to me it's worth it since I'm not feeding all of the greedy birds that I don't like. I also think that it lasts a little longer because the bigger birds aren't there pigging out on it all day until it's gone. I hope this works for you as well as it has for me. Good Luck!!!
